So you think you having a better chance than the rest of us at staying alive justifies being mean and intentionally cruel to people just because they're half-bloods or Muggleborns? And what about the Ministry and stuff, eh? If they catch wind that the other Death Eaters think you're still on their side, they probably won't give you a third chance.

Besides, the war's over, isn't it? And I'd have thought family meant more to you than your own rotten arse.

I do my job, I've never killed anyone and I've done my best to prevent people from getting hurt or killed. The Ministry has no reason not to trust me because of remarks I make to other people regarding being ~~mudblood~~ muggleborn. I have nothing against half bloods.

Having a family is more important to me than my being alive. But my being alive is important to keeping you lot alive. There are a few other things at play here but I will not put those to paper, no matter what sort of privacy hexes and charms are in place here.

If the shit hits the fan, they're not going to care about what you've been doing in the time between. They're only going to care about arresting everyone with Dark Marks, guilty or not. If anything happens, even a little skirmish, things are gonna get ugly, and you're gonna have to choose a side again, especially since both sides know where you are. Being in the middle isn't gonna make two allies, it's gonna make two enemies. And I'd highly recommend the side that helps you protect your family, if you really value it as much as you say. Being a Death Eater will do nothing but get us all killed.

So we're not capable of keeping ourselves alive? Is that what you're saying? And how's you being a Death Eater going to stop Aunt Trixie or Uncle Lucius or Uncle Roddy or Rabastan from coming after us? How does that work?

The mark is still on my arm so whether or not I switch sides, that's all they're going to see by your own admission. If I could do good by staying under the radar and having the Death Eaters think that I'm still on their side. No one in the Ministry trusts me any way and there isn't anything I can conceivably do to change their minds. ~~Especially not while Meadowes is there~~

My being a Death Eater will you keep you relatively safer than if I wasn't a Death Eater. They'd likely try to punish me before they kill me so they'd go for my family. Once they run out of family to kill they'll kill me. Being in amongst them can also give me time to warn you lot to move and hide. That's how it would work if I stayed in there. That's how I would protect you lot.

Not if you did stuff for this side. If you actually tried and made a stand and didn't act like your head was stuck up your own arse. It's not about changing the Ministry's mind, it's about proving you've changed.

Yeah? How's that work, eh? If you don't do what they want, they punish you. If you aren't one of them, they punish you. Can't do everything right, can you? Not without becoming one of them.

So you'd be a spy. I've heard stories of Peter Pettigrew. I know how that goes.

All they see is the mark. I do try, but all they see is the mark. I could change into Merlin himself and they would still regard me with suspicion.

I have gotten quite good at this very careful balancing act. I managed to make it through the first time causing minimal damage and not using any unforgivables.

Peter Pettigrew is a snivelling excuse for a human being and I will not be compared to him.
